Bangladeshi Men’s Health Fair Serves Over 200 Community Members

The Council of Mosques – Tower Hamlets, in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council, successfully hosted a comprehensive health fair specifically tailored for Bangladeshi men on Thursday, 19 June at the London Muslim Centre.

Event Overview

The health fair, held from 12:30–3:30pm at the London Muslim Centre’s main hall, attracted over 200 community members who received direct health advice and services. The event featured 12 information stalls from various health and social service organisations across Tower Hamlets.

Health Services and Screenings Provided

Attendees benefited from a comprehensive range of health services including:

  • Cancer Awareness: Bowel and prostate screening services
  • Cardiovascular Health: Blood pressure checks and cholesterol monitoring
  • Diabetes Management: Testing and guidance on healthy living
  • Smoking Cessation: Expert advice and support for quitting smoking
  • Nutrition and Exercise: Healthy eating guidance and weight management advice
  • Mental Health: Counseling and wellbeing support
  • Benefits Advice: Information on government support services

The event also featured interactive elements, including the popular pedal-powered smoothie bike, which engaged visitors while promoting physical activity.

The health fair was overseen by Council of Mosques leadership including Chairman Maulana Shamsul Haq, Treasurer and journalist Mohammed Abdul Mumin Jahedi Karol, and former Councillor Ansar Mustaquim.
