Council of Mosques is deeply saddened and concerned to learn of the recent arson attack on the Nelson Street Synagogue in East London.
We unequivocally condemn this cowardly and hateful act. There is no justification for violence, intimidation, or attacks against any place of worship or community institution.
An attack on a synagogue, mosque, church, temple, or any sacred space is an attack on the values of peace, coexistence, and mutual respect that bind our communities together.
We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and all those affected by this distressing incident. Tower Hamlets has a long and proud history of communities living side by side, supporting one another through difficult times, and rejecting hatred in all its forms.
We welcome the ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Police and support all efforts to bring those responsible to justice. We also continue to work closely with local faith leaders, community organisations, and public authorities to promote unity, reassurance, and community safety.
At a time when division and hatred seek to create fear, we must come together with greater strength and determination to uphold the values of compassion, understanding, and neighbourliness.
Council of Mosques remains committed to fostering positive interfaith relations and ensuring that Tower Hamlets continues to be a borough where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live peacefully and safely together.
