Health Fair Raises Awareness, Gives Access

Council of Mosques Health Fair Supports Local Residents off Hackney Road

On Thursday 23 July 2026, the Council of Mosques, in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council and Shahporan Mosque, hosted a free community Health Fair at Shahporan Mosque, Hackney Road.

The event was promoted locally as a welcoming, doorstep opportunity for residents to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Attendees were offered a free healthy meal alongside blood pressure, heart rate and BMI checks, and had the chance to speak directly with NHS professionals about health and wellbeing.

The Health Fair proved a popular addition to the community calendar, with approximately 80 local residents attending throughout the afternoon. Visitors were able to speak with Community Navigators for information on local support services, receive advice from the Quit Smoking team, and take part in health assessments run by the Health Check team.

The event gave residents a valuable opportunity to access health information in a familiar, community setting and ask questions directly to professionals — reflecting strong local interest in health and wellbeing, and the impact of continued partnership working between the Council of Mosques, Tower Hamlets Council, and Shahporan Mosque.
