One UK mosque is attacked every five days, according to BMT figures for 2026.
The Council of Mosques – Tower Hamlets (CoM-TH), together with Tower Hamlets Council, has launched a new awareness poster for Islamophobia Awareness Month. Its message is simple: if you experience or witness Islamophobia, report it.
Islamophobia is more than physical attacks
Islamophobia is a coordinated effort to drive Muslims out of public life. It does not always take the form of a physical assault, and many incidents go unreported because people feel they are “too small” or not worth the trouble.
Our message is that nothing is too small. If you experience or witness hate, speak up. This includes:
- Verbal abuse and online hate
- Workplace and school discrimination
- Graffiti and property damage
- Threats, intimidation and physical attacks
Every report helps build a clearer picture of what our communities are facing, and helps ensure the right support and action follow.
How to report
- Emergency: call 999
- Non-emergency: call 101
- Public transport: text 61016 (British Transport Police)
- Victim Support: call 0800 168 9291
- Islamophobia Response Unit: call 020 3904 6555 or visit www.theiru.org.uk
You are not alone
The Council of Mosques and Tower Hamlets Council stand with you. If you are unsure where to turn, or would like help making a report, get in touch with us.
Help us spread the word
We are calling on every mosque in Tower Hamlets to inform their congregation about how to report Islamophobia. Please share this message at Friday prayers, in announcements and on your mosque’s social media channels, and display the poster where worshippers will see it.
Posters and leaflets are available free of charge for mosques. To request copies for your mosque, contact us:
