San Diego Mosque Shooting

In response to the incident at a mosque in San Diego, which is being treated by US authorities as a suspected hate crime, Chief Inspector Chris Brown, Head of Neighbourhood Policing in Tower Hamlets, said:

“I am aware of the incident in San Diego involving a mosque, which is being treated by US authorities as a suspected hate crime. I recognise that events like this can understandably cause concern and anxiety within our communities, particularly in Tower Hamlets.

“I want to provide reassurance that there is no intelligence at this time to suggest any increased or specific threat locally, but developments will be monitored closely. Neighbourhood teams will continue with high visibility patrols around places of worship and key community locations, and we will remain alert to any signs of tension and responsive to allegations of hate crime.

“I would ask partners to share any concerns, community sentiment or intelligence promptly, and actively encourage communities to report any suspicious activity or hate incidents. If you have any concerns or require additional engagement in your area, please contact your local neighbourhood policing team.”
