On 28th March, we were proud to join the Together Alliance march in London alongside hundreds of thousands of people and 100+ organisations, standing united against far-right politics, Islamophobia, and anti-migrant hatred.
MCB Secretary General Dr. Wajid Akhter addressed the rally, expressing gratitude to all those standing in solidarity with Muslim communities at a time of rising Islamophobia. Green Party leader Zack Polanski declared from the stage that the movement would “never back down in the face of hate — when they attack migrants, when they spew hate about our trans siblings, when they blame Muslims for our country’s ills.” Stand Up To Racism co-convenor Sabby Dhalu warned of “unprecedented growth” in far-right organising, calling on the majority of British people who reject hatred and division to act. Alliance chairman Kevin Courtney told the crowds it was “the biggest demonstration ever against the far right.”
Marching through Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, joined by trade unions, faith communities, charities and campaigners, the message was clear — Britain is strongest when it is tolerant, diverse, and united.
In the build-up to the march, CoM hand-delivered leaflets and posters to all 55 mosques across Tower Hamlets, helping to ensure our community’s voice was part of this historic day. Following the anti-migrant riots of 2024, this movement is more important than ever. Together with groups like Stand Up To Racism, we will keep showing up.
